It’s best if this only as a seam on one side as it’s less bulky but will work if you have seams on both sides as long as it’s not too narrow.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003eTack the fabric tube together across one short end. You can do this by hand or by machine using the longest stitch length.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003eChoose the correct Turning Tube for the width of the fabric you have made. Refer to the measurements or just use the largest plastic tube that will fit inside your fabric tube.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003ePlace the plastic tube inside the fabric tube and push it right to the end which you’ve tacked close.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003eTake the turning rod, that comes with the plastic tube you’ve chosen, and push the tacked end into the plastic tube using the flat end.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003ePush the tacked end all the way through until it comes out of the other end of the plastic tube. Pull it all the way through until the whole fabric tube is turned right sides out.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003eUndo the tacking stitches at the end and give your tube a press to finish. It is used a lot in dressmaking to stiffen different parts of garments but we find it really useful for adding weight and stiffness to bags and many of our kits. If we recommend or suggest that you use interfacing when making our projects, it will be listed in the You Will Also Need section of the kit\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3 class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eHow to use interfacing\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eWhenever you use iron-on interfacing, always test a small piece on a scrap of fabric first to make sure it’s the right weight and doesn’t add more stiffness than you need.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eIf you look at the interfacing, you will see it has a shiny side and a matt side. The shiny side has the glue on it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003col class=\"ol1\"\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li2\"\u003ePlace the fabric you want to attach the interfacing to, wrong side up on your ironing board and press it to remove any creases so it’s nice and flat.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li2\"\u003eNext, place the interfacing glue side down over it.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li2\"\u003eThe wool setting on your iron is about right for most fabrics but always start low and increase the heat rather than the other way round. You should test the heat is right without melting the interfacing or fabric when you do your test piece.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li2\"\u003ePlace a damp cloth (like a tea towel) over the fabric and interfacing then press your iron on top of it. Hold the iron in place for 10 to 15 seconds then move it to the next section and repeat. You don’t need to use the steam setting of your iron as the damp cloth will provide the steam as well as protecting the fabric and interfacing. Every now and then, lift your cloth and check to see if the interfacing is firmly glued in place. Try to make sure the Bondaweb is a little smaller than the fabric or it will stick to your ironing board. If you can’t do this then use a silicone mat beneath the fabric to protect your ironing board.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003ePlace a spare piece of cotton fabric on top of the Bondaweb and press on top for about five seconds using a medium heat and NO steam.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003eLeave the Bondaweb and fabric to go completely cold which will allow the glue to set.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003eRemove the paper backing from the Bondaweb then your fabric can now be placed RS up on top of the fabric and in the position you want to attach it to.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli class=\"li1\"\u003ePlace a damp cloth (like a tea towel) over the fabric and press your iron on top of it.
