Amber Makes Sampler Quilt Block of the Month - The Schoolhouse Blocks Tutorial

The Schoolhouse Block is one of the most traditional and loved of all quilt blocks. The schoolhouse was an important building in the town for early settlers in America and quilters enjoyed making it in patchwork and including it in their quilts. The original design was most probably the Little Red Schoolhouse which first appeared in the 1920s. Use simple piecing to create two schoolhouses facing in different directions and a mini version with four small schoolhouses.
