The Floral Dance Quilt Block of the Month - July - The Water Lily Block
These distinctive, cup shaped flowers float gracefully on ponds and lakes as they emerge from the water then open with the sun. They symbolise purity, enlightenment, rebirth, and peace with their ability to rise resplendently from the water.
Stitch the Water Lily Motif Block using four flower heads with appliquéd semi circle centres and stems. The Water Lily Bloom Block features a fully open flower with shades of pink petals and an illustrated centre. These are a stunning addition to your quilt.
The Floral Dance Quilt is a pieced celebration of our favourite flowers all in one stunning quilt. Weve chosen twelve flowers to represent each month of the year then designed two blocks for each flower using a variety of patchwork and appliqué skills. Once joined together they create a beautiful year of flowers surrounding a central floral motif. Keep the instructions to build up your own floral quilt block library and use them to make smaller items too.
The Blocks are surrounded by a floral appliqué border and the whole quilt can be made using the Quilt-As-You-Go method so you can quilt each Block as you make it then join them together using this simple technique. Or you can simply piece and quilt all the blocks together. You’ll learn a variety of techniques along the way too. Collect them all to make twenty five Blocks to piece together into your very own Floral Dance Quilt – a true celebration of flowers showcasing your skills.
