The Floral Dance Quilt Block of the Month - October - The Chrysanthemum Block
Chrysanthemums are the official birth flower for October and represent optimism and joy as well as longevity and optimism as they such long lasting flowers once cut as well as looking so cheerful arranged in a vase.
Stitch the Chrysanthemum Motif Block with symmetrical heads and the Chrysanthemum Bloom Block featuring fiery orange appliquéd centres. These orange Chrysanthemums are the perfect representation of all things autumn.
The Floral Dance Quilt is a pieced celebration of our favourite flowers all in one stunning quilt. Weve chosen twelve flowers to represent each month of the year then designed two blocks for each flower using a variety of patchwork and appliqué skills. Once joined together they create a beautiful year of flowers surrounding a central floral motif. Keep the instructions to build up your own floral quilt block library and use them to make smaller items too.
The Blocks are surrounded by a floral appliqué border and the whole quilt can be made using the Quilt-As-You-Go method so you can quilt each Block as you make it then join them together using this simple technique. Or you can simply piece and quilt all the blocks together. You’ll learn a variety of techniques along the way too. Collect them all to make twenty five Blocks to piece together into your very own Floral Dance Quilt – a true celebration of flowers showcasing your skills.
