A good pair of scissors or shears for cutting out your fabric is a must. They need to be strong, sharp and able to cut through multiple layers at a time. We use these Fiskars sewing shears as they’re just the right length for cutting the pieces from our fabric panels and all our sewing and dressmaking needs too. They come with a protective sheath which makes them safer to store and transport. Look after them and only use them for fabric and they’ll last you for a long time.

Features

·      RazorEdge™premium, ultra-sharp stainless steel blades. These are precision made to cut cleanly through various fabrics and multiple layers. Perfect for dressmaking and cutting silk, cotton, canvas, velvet and light leather.

·      Ergonomic contoured Softgrip® handle. These have been designed for comfort and control due to their sculpted finger and thumb loops to fit the hand, which minimizes pressure and reduces hand fatigue during long tasks.

·      Advanced pivot design provides ultra-smooth cutting action.

·      Fiskars

The Fiskars scissors with orange handles are a Finnish design icon, born in the village of Fiskars, Finland in 1967. They were the world’s first plastic-handled scissors which changed the way scissors were thought of as they were lightweight, ergonomic, easy to use and offered exceptional performance. Over a billion pairs of Classic scissors have been sold worldwide.

Blade length (screw to tip): 4¼in (10.5cm), approx.

How to Care for your Scissors

1.     Wipe the blades after each use as this prevents build-up of lint and fibres that can get caught in the pivot area and interfere with the cutting.

2.     From time to time, wash your scissors with soap and water then rinse and dry before using or storing.

3.     Oil your scissors every once in a while at the screw assembly and between the blades at the pivot area. Sewing machine oil is a good choice for this. Wipe the excess oil off the blades to prevent staining your fabric.

4.     Keep the Blade stored inside the included protective sheath when not in use for safety.
