Vlieseline Decovil 1

This is a heavy fusible interlining which has a leather like feel and an adhesive backing which is ideal for adding stability and structure to fabric whilst still being sewable. We love to use it in bag making when we want a structured feel – we’ve used it for our Basket Bags to give a neat, professional finish. It’s also great for bag bases to make them stand up and add strength. It’s easy to shape, doesn’t crease or fray and fully fusible so is easy to work with. It can be sewn through using a sharp needle but your seams will be neater if you trim the Decovil so it sits just inside the seam then you can press it open and flatter.

90cm width and available to buy in 50cm increments – if you order more than 50cm it will be sent as a full cut length

HOW TO USE DECOVIL 1

1.     Place the fabric you want to attach the Decovil 1 to, WS up.

2.     If you want the Decovil 1 to sit inside the seam allowance then trim it to size before you fuse it in place.

3.     Place the Decovil 1 with the glue side down on top. The glue side is the slightly shinier.

4.     Place a damp cloth (like a tea towel) over the Decovil 1 and press your iron on top of it.

5.     Hold the iron in place for around six seconds then move it to the next section and repeat. Every now and then, lift your cloth and check to see if the Decovil 1 is firmly glued in place. If not, keep pressing until it is.

6.     After fixing, leave to cool down completely, for about 30 minutes so it is firmly fused and stabilised.
