Fiskars Rotating Cutting Mat

This self-healing rotating mat is perfect for cutting fabric using a rotary cutter when you want to turn the fabric to cut in another direction without disturbing it. It’s ideal for trimming small patchwork blocks such as HSTs and Flying Geese and perfect for FPP and appliqué too. We’ve chosen this mat as it’s just the right size for all these uses as well as squaring off and trimming Quilt blocks up to 13x13in.

Why use a Rotating Cutting Mat

1.     This mat rotates a full 360° so you can move the mat instead of the fabric.

2.     The rotating feature makes it ideal for trimming Blocks to size without needing to move the fabric or yourself.  This will give you more accurate, precise cuts.

3.     When you need to make several cuts on the same fabric pieces but in different directions, rotating the mat makes this easy. This is ideal for making Eight-at a- time HSTs for example.

4.     When trimming fabric with small tight curves using a small rotary cutter, you can get smoother cuts by rotating the mat. This makes it ideal for cutting out smaller dressmaking pieces.

5.     Hand strain is reduced as you can rotate the mat into exactly the position you need to cut.
