Milward Snap Fasteners: 9MM, Silver, 20 Sets

These top quality Snap Fasteners are 9mm (3/8in approx.) in diameter and there are 20 sets on the card. They are sew-on and rustproof and have a shiny silver coloured finish. Snap Fasteners ideal for sewing onto tabs or fabric to attach two pieces together. They have central guide holes in the male and female halves to help align them when sewing them on.

HOW TO SEW ON A SNAP FASTENER

1.     The Snap Fasteners come in pairs which are attached together to the card. They have a Male Section (this has the rounded raised part) and a female section (this has the recessed socket part) You can choose which section you attach where.

2.     Mark where you want the centre of your Male Section to go onto the fabric then push a pin through the central guide hole on the Male Section and into the mark so it’s in the correct position. It does help to use a spot of fabric glue to hold this in place whilst you sew or you can simply use a pin with a large head which won’t go through the guide hole.

3.     Use a sewing thread to match either the fabric or the snap and secure your thread by working a few stitches on top of each other beneath the Snap.

4.     Next, work a few small oversewing stitches into each hole then into the fabric. Or, you can work straight stitches going from one hole to another – it’s entirely up to you depending on what finished look you prefer. Work four or five stitches on top of each other whichever method you’re using.

5.     Once you’ve finished, secure the end of the thread by oversewing a few times.

6.     Match up where you want the central guide hole of the Female Section so that the two Sections sit exactly on top of each other when the fabric pieces are joined by them.

7.     Pin or glue the Female Section into position then sew into place in the same way as for the Male Section.
